History
OZ Midway and Arcade was 30,000 square-foot game center located next to the food court of the Emerald City Casino, in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. Opening on December 18, 1993, it treated guests of all ages to "games that test your skill along with the latest in video and virtual reality games." The OZ Midway and Arcade, like much of the area it was situated in, was themed after the Wizard of OZ movie.1, 2 By 1995 it was obvious to the MGM execs that the 20,000 visitors a day they were hoping for was never going to happen. by 1998 the entire Emerald City was re-purposed into casino space and a night club. Today the location is home to the Centrifuge bar.3
