In 1954 Don Clayton and his father spent $5,200 to open an 18 hole miniature golf course in Fayetteville, NC. A round of golf was 25 cents. They eventually called the course Putt-Putt. The course was different than other courses at the time. Putt-Putt courses were designed to require the same skills as full size putting greens Instead of relying on moving obstacles such as windmills. In 1955 the first Professional Putters Association tournament was held at Putt-Putt.1, 2, 3 Today Putt-Putt has locations in 14 states with most locations containing an arcade. These tokens were used at the arcades, however all locations now use game cards.1
